GoFlip is a simple flip-book application that connects to your GoPro Hero 5 Black via wifi.
It pulls (a copy of) all the JPG files from the SD card and creates a RAM preview of your time-lapse / hyper-lapse / stop motion without requiring the GoPro to be touched, switched off, interrupted, tethered or otherwise molested. (more…)
Pretty sure the title of the film alludes to the demise of real people – or anything else for that matter – on screen. This technology is awesome but heading full digital leaves me feeling a bit bored by it’s perfection. ‘Behind the scenes’ videos of the future will become nothing more than a rendering showcase … give me the twisted metal and scorching flames of Mad Max: Fury Road over CGI any day of the week. Beautiful. Just beautiful. Order of adjectives chosen so as to cause minimal disrespect: Sensational female Korean longboarder Hyo Joo (longboarding Korean sensational female?) – who went viral with this a couple years back – drives this fashion piece for Vogue. Produced by The Mill and directed by Lacey pretty much everything here from performance to ‘so future’ styling to pacing, post and music, is on point.
I was / am a big fan of The Delgados but as sure as 90’s turned to 00’s quite a few bands and albums slipped through the mental cracks. The Delgados have long since broken up but lead singer songwriter Emma Pollock is still going strong as a solo artist. This video – while nothing ground breaking – is simply very well shot night sky time lapse… probably the most time consuming ways to grab 3 minutes of music video footage! Great song, pay attention to the lyrics.
Video above has details but the headline says it all really. The GoPro Hero 5 Black’s HDMI port spits out clean UHD / 4K when in Live mode. For such a small camera, this is completely nuts. Will take a look at the actual signal tomorrow but as far as my AJA HA5-4K and Convergent Design 7Q are concerned this GoPro lives up to it’s hero moniker. (more…)
I have one rule about music videos – no running. I once sat through a music video with someone singing about running while running (borderline autistic, that one). Will let it slide for this beautifully shot black and white video. Just a tiny bit of running with a touching pay-off.
Click on the link below to download this handy workflow I threw together in Automator – designed to make multi-cam GoPro file handling a lot faster and simpler. Can be easily tweaked for other cameras if necessary. (more…)
Having been in beta for a while I’m genuinely excited to see Mocha (of the camera tracker fame) releasing VR tools for heavy duty 360 post-production. Dozens of useful features – rig clean-up, roto, tracking etc. – have been carried over from the original Mocha software into spherical space, plus the arrival of some new tools like re-orient and lens compositing.
Everything is explained in depth on the product page, and this post would be remiss without a video so put the kettle on and plough through all these. Will it replace the Mettle SkyBox workflow? For me, probably yes. (more…)
